Roping and Hogtying
Use Sparingly & With Intent
Lassos should not be used as a first resort in roleplay. Hogtying immediately ends another player’s ability to react, so it should only be used when appropriate and justified in the scene. Be aware that excessive or premature use of lassos can kill the progression of good roleplay.
Breaking Out of Ropes
Do not break ropes or hogties if:
Your captor is present and has a weapon drawn or is clearly posing a threat
You are being carried or stowed on a horse
Your character would not realistically be able to escape
Escaping should always be based on realistic timing and situational awareness—not just game mechanics.
Law Enforcement Use
Law enforcement may use lassos as a non-lethal method to apprehend suspects.
If you are caught via lasso by a lawman:
You may attempt to escape once.
If you are apprehended a second time, you must submit to the arrest and follow the scene through.
The above rules (guns drawn, being carried, stowed) still apply during law-related roleplay.
