# Injury and Death

#### "Downed"

The player is **injured but conscious**.

* They may **continue vocal communication** while on the ground.
* The character **retains memory** of the incident and everything that occurred before and after.
* **Use this state** when your character is wounded but not incapacitated or unconscious.

#### "Unconscious"

The player is **unconscious and non-verbal**.

* Communication is limited to **/me medical emotes** only.
* The character will **not remember anything** that occurs during unconsciousness.
* Use this option for **severe but non-fatal injuries** where memory loss is appropriate.

#### "Dead" / Permadeath

The player's injuries are **beyond medical repair**.

* The player must use **`/me perma`** to indicate to medics that their character is dying.

**Permadeath is voluntary**. **No other player can force** another to permadeath their character.

Once permadeath is chosen:

* The character must be **immediately deleted** by the player.
* Failure to do so will result in staff deleting the character for you.

It is **highly encouraged** to notify staff **before** initiating a scene where you intend to permadeath your character.

#### Medical Help & Respawning

If you are downed, you may:

* Use `/alerdoctor` to ping **player medics**.
* Use `/sendhelp` to request **NPC doctor** assistance.
* **Wait to respawn** manually.

If you choose to **respawn**, your character:

* **Forgets all events** from the **last 30 minutes prior to the respawn**.
* May not seek revenge or act on information from that time frame.
